The Dallas Mavericks recalled Olivier-Maxence Prosper from the Texas.
The Dallas Mavericks have been one of the most active teams in the NBA trade market in recent years, and they continued that trend in the lead-up to the 2024 trade deadline. On March 20, the Mavericks recalled Olivier-Maxence Prosper from the Texas Legends of the NBA G League. Prosper is a 6'8" forward who was originally drafted by the Mavericks in the second round of the 2021 NBA draft. He has spent the majority of the 2023-24 season with the Legends, averaging 15.6 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
The Mavericks also made a pair of trades before Thursday's deadline. They acquired Daniel Gafford from the Washington Wizards in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis, and they acquired P.J. Redick and a trade player exception from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Wesley Iwundu, James Johnson, and a 2021 second-round pick. As part of a three-team trade, the Mavericks traded Justin Jackson, a 2023 second-round pick, and Maxwell Lewis to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
These moves were made in an effort to improve the Mavericks' chances of making a deep playoff run in 2024. The Mavericks are currently 35-25 and in sixth place in the Western Conference standings. They are hoping that the addition of Gafford and Redick will help them make a run at the NBA championship.
